My original veneers were put on in 1989. I had them on the front 6 teeth. They held up pretty well, but my gums were receding a bit and my front one was crooked (never noticed until recently). My family dentist said he could do them at a fraction of the price of a cosmetic dentist so I agreed. He took impressions before and then grounded (grinded?) off the old ones and took impressions again....
When I went to my new dentist, she told me my teeth were perfect. I said they are yellow...instead of offering me a whitening procedure which she sent out in an email in August,2014, she said "Oh, I can place a paper thin material over YOUR teeth and whiten them." I laughed at the time and said I didn't want to look like "the gals on news." She said, she "could match the color of my eye...
